Exterior Improvements That Don’t Cost a Fortune

One of the really great things about life in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area is that the incredible desert climate allows for year round outdoor living. This means Phoenix residents can enjoy a daytime backyard barbeque in the middle of winter, and evening outdoor activities in the summer (when daytime temperatures soar sky-high).

Given their propensity for outdoor living, it’s kind of surprising to see how many Phoenix households have sloppy exteriors and drab landscaping that makes outdoor living anything but pleasant. The problem here is that plenty of folks think that sprucing up the outside of their houses is too expensive or time consuming to bother with. This, as it turns out, is not the case at all.

Exterior home improvements that fit all kinds of budgets are readily available for anyone who cares to put in the work. And if you’re looking for something that’s a little more elaborate, that’s definitely an option, too.

Even if you can’t afford to spend big bucks on a contractor to the job or you plan on doing the work all on your own, there are a few exterior improvements out there that just about anyone can afford.

Vinyl Fencing
We’re not going kid you about the up-front costs of vinyl fencing because the initial outlay can be kind of pricey. On the other hand, this incredibly durable fencing is probably the last fencing you’ll ever have to buy and requires almost no maintenance.

If you’ve spent much time in the Valley of the Sun, you know that those blazing desert days can extract an incredible toll on traditional wooden fences.

All that heat and dry weather means homeowners need to paint or stain their fences every couple of years. Maintenance issues of this kind are not a problem for vinyl fence owners who are able to spend their weekends enjoying the sweet Arizona weather, instead of painting fences.

Light it Up
Here’s something you might now have ever considered about the outside of your house; maybe it already looks good and just needs a little help?

As it turns out, a little bit of landscape lighting can provide an entirely new look to your home. There are plenty of well-qualified contractors doing amazing landscape lighting in Phoenix that finding one to make your house shine shouldn’t be too tough.

Pouring a little light on the natural landscaping features that are so common in Phoenix is a very affordable way of giving your home a new look. And since so much of your summer activities take place after dark, when the temperatures have cooled down, this is a project you’ll definitely get to enjoy.

Water Features
If you’ve lived in Arizona for any length of time you know that folks in Phoenix love dressing up their homes with simple water features.

We’ve found that even a small, birdbath-sized, fountain can really add a lot of depth to an otherwise drab yard. Most big box retailers like Home Depot carry small water features that are easy to install and won’t make much of a dent in your budget.

(And don’t worry about your water bill, most fountain recycle the water they use in an endless loop.)

Phoenix is blessed with such lovely weather that failing to maximize your outdoor spaces to their fullest is practically a crime.
